Final double page spread
(with improvements.)

Here i made improvements from my last draft, to create my final draft of my double page spread.  I made the questions in the Q & A, bold so that they stood out from the rest of the text. I made the text of the pull Quote underneath "Kathy Weaver", bigger to make it stand out and catch the readers attention.  I also added a stand at the beginning of my column to give the realistic magazine effect and to create realism within my work. I changed the page numbers to 14+15 instead of 25+26 to show continuity throughout my magazine as when writing about this story on my contents page and my double page spread i said that they were on different page numbers to what i then put them as. This also creates realism as you wouldn't have the story stated on page number 6 for example and then place it as page 14.

   Double Page Spread.

Here is my double page spread. I really like this draft as it looks very realistic and compared to real magazines out in the industry it has similar conventions. I love the pull on the left page as it looks quirky and very eye catching. The image is clear as she is looking straight into the camera. It also fits with the layout pattern i have chosen as her arm creates continuity onto the next page put it wont look awkward once folded as it is not a central image. The Fonts work really well and by using the same house-style it creates continuity throughout my magazine and throughout the three products i have made.

Draft 1

In this draft i like the image i have used of Kathy. I liked the grey blocks that i placed around the text however i feel that they look un-professional. This draft doesnt really look asthetically pleasing because there isnt much on the page and the structure is boring, and i know i can do better.
Draft 2

I really like this draft, and i have chosen it for my final contents page. I feel however that teh pull quotetext on the first page needs to be in a better font and more stylish. Also the column needs a stand before the Question and Answer starts.

Draft 3

I like this draft as it is very different to the others however it does not look as professional as draft 2 and so i will not be using it. The text on the first page looks weak and the picture at the bottem right of page 2 does not fit with the structure.

Final Contents page.

I have chosen this contents draft as my final product. I feel like it is the most professional and has more to offer. The continuity from my front cover also follows through to this and it looks realistic. I have however made some slight changes to make this even better. I have added page numbers in the bottom corners of both pages to create realism and i have also placed the title of the magazine next to the page number on the first page. I saw this on an existing product and took the idea to create realism within my product. Next to the editors post on the second page i have added a photo of my self to create a personal response for the readers. The image of the band has changed as i have cut it to just the two boys as the magazine was already to feminine and i wanted to create a wider audience.
This is the same as draft 3 however i have changed the Masthead by adding a ripped paper effect behind the text and then i added another picture of Kathy from another draft which i created before. I do like this draft however i don't know if i'd prefer this draft without the extra picture of Kathy.

Draft 3

I really like this contents draft as i find it realistic and original. I like how it is not too cramped and i like the layout of the page. Compared to the others it looks better as the style looks alot like Q magazine which is my inspiration and if i were to see this in a magazine i would believe it was real, whereas when looking at the other two i am not too sure.

This is my second contents page draft. I decided to create a double page contents as my inspiration from Q magazine showed that they create a mixture of single contents pages and double. I actually prefer this draft as i feel it gives more and looks professional. I did however add some secondary image onto this draft from Google  The one of the robot is from Google and the picture of rihanna and tomorrow land are also from Google. I did this because it made the draft look more realistic and showed similarities between my contents page and q magazine.
I made Chloe a bigger item on this page rather than Kathy as Kathy is on every page and i feel that i needed variety within my drafts.

Below is the contents page of Q Magazine that i got my inspiration from.

My contents page- First draft.

I have finished my first draft of Click Contents page. I really like the layout for this page and the images that i have chose. I like the stories that have been used as they are relevant to the sub headings on my front cover and they are relevant to my chosen music genre of pop and dance. In my next draft i will add a column about monthly in my magazine and what will happen every month. And i will also experiment with my images and maybe edit the colour of them on Photoshop to create something a bit more wacky and out there. I really like the contrasting fonts as they work really well together and create class as well as fitting to my music genre theme.

My Final Front Cover.

For my final front cover i have changed quite a lot from my first draft. I have added a lot more text to fill the space which was one of my comments from my peer feed back. I have also changed some of the text to make it bigger which creates a more interesting and eye catching cover. I have also added a paper tear away effect text bar across the magazine front cover and placed my headline and catch phrase within this box. I added another tattoo on Kathy using Photoshop. this made her look a lot more music styled and it fits more with my music genre. I added a text bar at the top of the magazine to put some sub headings to also catch the audiences eye and make it look more realistic. Another thing that i did was change the Mast head to a different font style. This helped my magazine suit the purpose and look more like a music magazine than a fashion magazine.
I really like this front cover as i think the changes i have made have improved it to suit the purpose and make it look more realistic.

Update about my front cover

For my Music magazine, i have decided to change which front cover draft i am going to use as my final front cover. I have decided to use draft one, this is because the image of Kathy is of her looking to the camera. This is a more personal image for the audience, and also makes the whole appearance of the front cover look better. I have also decided to use this idea as it is a brighter image, and the background is more effective which stands out against all of my other drafts. The conventions within this draft are better than the ones in my other drafts.
This draft however needs improvements such as; i need to add the tattoo from my draft 2 onto the arm of Kathy in this Draft. I also need to change the font of my Masthead as it is too much like a Fashion magazine and inst following the task in hand. The text on the magazine front cover needs to be bolder and made bigger and on some of the stories the text needs to be re-arranged. for example i need to take the pull quote of Kathy's tattoo and place it under the Heading of Kathy Weaver. I am going to add some other things and make it more to my genre of a music magazine. I will write an updated post and picture when i have made these improvements.
