Some edited photos

Here i took away the colour to give a greyscale effect. This was to make the image darker to look more professional.

I changed the brightness on this image to make a more effective picture.

I changed the brightness and contrast on this image using photoshop to get a brighter image that stands out from the background.

I changed the Hue saturation on this image using photoshop. I added more green to get this effect.

Here i edited the photo by cutting kathy away from the background layer on photoshop. I then placed the cut out layer on top of the original image so it creates a secret layer but looks no different. Using a black rubber tool i scribbled across the background layer to create this effect^. By cutting kathy out it created this cool effect to the background but then did not go on Kahty herself.

Initial ideas/Mocks of a front cover, contents page and a double page spread













































I made rough templates of my inital ideas for my front cover, my contents page and my double page spread. I have planned where each convention will go and used boxes for text and images. I made these by using photoshop and publisher.

Rihanna  Behind-the-Scenes ELLE Cover Shoot July 2010 





I really like this magazine front cover. I think the Costume design of what Rhianna is wearing fits in with the house style perfectly. I think that the positioning of Rhianna her self is very accurate and it looks effective. Watching the behind the shoot video was really interesting as it shows you all the different positions they placed her in, the different costumes, until they came across the final image. I like how the magazine front cover is plain, yet effective and is widely based around Rhianna. 


Lada Gaga Behind-the-Scenes ELLE Cover Shoot January 2010




When watching the behind footage of Lady Gaga's photo shoot, it really inspired me on the costume and hair design. It was quite simple however with some quirks to it which made her stand out as an individual and made you think wow. I want my model to make my magazine look impressive and look like It is a real magazine. Again the magazine is very plain but the main feature is the main image. I also like how Elle places the model's head half way between the Mast head. It cuts the text in to but it shows how popular the magazine must be as they do this on purpose and everyone will know which magazine it is anyway.

I drew some initial ideas roughly on some A4 paper. I marked out roughly where the main conventions would be and different ways of structuring them.

Reader Profile




My audience is mainly students between the age of 18-22.They come under the social grade E because they are students. They will be on a minimum wage and therefore the price of my magazine suits them. For my reader profile i used images that i felt connected with my audience in likes and hobbies. I used images that are connected to females and males. There are around 200,000 students in great Britain, therefore my magazine will be very popular. 
My audience like the latest styles in hair and make-up and clothes and my statistics show how much money is spent on clothes and make-up. My images relate to the life of a student by the alcohol, cars, phones and other images.

Social grades used in media and advertising. 

All producers use this table to insure that their intended product is sold correctly to the target audience. I used this to see who would buy my magazine and why. The social class that fits my target audience is social class E. Students are found within this social class as they are still in the funding of their parents or loans. I would also say that people in the social class C1 and B would also buy my magazine. This is because the price of my magazine is £3.00. I chose this price as it competes with other magazines in the same genre as mine however it is cheaper than the others to fit with the social class group of E. This price is expensive and so people in the social groups of C1 and B will be able to afford it also and it is a high class magazine within the layout and the stories within it.
